Great food can really enhance life, don’t you agree? There’s a reason “spicing up your life” and “giving it some flavor” are expressions used. We live in one of the richest and most creative culinary moments in history. But with so many budding food scenes around the United States, where does one start?
We know many of you who use a Los Angeles limousine service also appreciate a unique dining experience, so we have compiled here a list of seven great up and coming could cities as recommended by Zagat, the restaurant rating agency.
1. Charleston, South Carolina
A combination of big-name chefs, such as Sean Brick and Mike Plata, and innovative restaurants make this Southern city a foodie fun house.
Lata, a native New Englander whose restaurants — Fig and The Ordinary — are popular spots, told Zagat, “Fifteen years ago when I got here, there wasn’t a local food movement at all. What jump-started Charleston is that we have a very savvy clientele that includes many tourists – their tastes were a little more sophisticated. Couple that with the resources that we have – we have the local seafood, and we have a really long growing season farmwise. It was really easy to provide an authentic dining experience based on what we could find locally.”

2. Salt Lake City, Utah
If you’re into restaurants that source their products locally, this is the town to check out. Restaurateurs Scott Evans (owner of Pago) and Viet Pham (Food & Wine Best New Chef, Iron Chef America winner, and owner of Forage)
“I would say Salt Lake City’s dining scene is up and coming,” Pham said. “We have all of the elements and ingredients to be like a Portland, Ore., or an Austin, Texas.”
3. Boulder, Colorado
“New and creative concepts are popping up all the time from talented and proven chefs and beverage professionals,” said Lachlan Mackinnon-Patterson, chef and co-owner of the city’s popular Frasca Food and Wine.

Cafe Aion – specializes in farm-to-table small plates with a Spanish slant
OAK at Fourteenth – open kitchen, farm-to-table, mixes comfort-food like meatballs with items like roasted bone marrow and hamachi crudo
Cured – market/restaurant for gourmet meats and cheeses
4. Athens, Georgia
Farm 255 – executive chef Whitney Otakwa (Top Chef Texas); the restaurant’s management runs a farm collective to bring the freshest produce and humanely raised animals to the table.
5 & 10 – owned by Hugh Acheson, a judge on Top Chef. The restaurant won a James Bean Award last year.
